COVID Community Response PPE

The K-12 STEM Team at Kenowa Hills Public Schools has been working on the development of four pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) utilizing the district's 3D printers. The PPE will be printed and provided to individuals and organizations in need, as well as the plans provided to others with 3D printing capabilities to help supply these during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Montana Mask
Inspired by Dr. Dusty Richardson, Dr. Spencer Zaugg and Colton Zaugg. The Montana Mask is a high efficiency filtration mask. It’s 3D printable and the design files are free for public use. It can be sanitized and reused. Although not approved by the FDA or NIOSH, the mask has been rigorously tested. The level of protection is customizable, depending on which material you use for the filter.

3DVerkstan Face Shield
There is a shortage of protective gear for doctors and nurses, so 3DVerkstan designed a frame for holding standard sized plastic sheets. Quick to print, easy to assemble. We are able to print and assemble these face shields rapidly.

Prusa Face Shield
A different design in the face shields that some facilities are requesting instead of the 3DVerkstan model. Each facility is different in what they are accepting, so we are making sure that we have capabilities to 3D print anything that is currently in demand.

Bias Tape Maker
These devices are used by those who are sewing fabric face masks for doctors, nurses, patients and the general public. Through West Michigan Open Source Medical Supplies we have connected with everyone in West Michigan who are sewing masks and by using this device it can significantly reduce the time needed to make each mask.
