A friendly reminder, if you could please call ahead to excuse your child for an appointment that is during school hours. We like to refrain from interrupting class as much as possible. Please call the attendance line (616) 785-3225 or email, msattendance@khps.org. This email is another way to communicate your students' absence, early leave time, or late arrivals as well! *Covid absences do not go against attendance records.

M-Step Testing Week
All students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will be assessed through The Michigan Test of Educational Progress (M-Step). ** It is important to make sure your student is in attendance during the week of their scheduled M-Step test.

The following is our M-Step schedule:

  • 8th Grade testing is the week of May 2 - 6, 2022.
    • SS (1 hr.); Science (1 1/2 hrs.)

** M-Step is a computer-based assessment - no time limit.

What to bring to M-Step testing:

  • **Charged and working Chromebook.
  • Earbuds on ELA M-Step testing days

Attention 8th Graders!

  • The 8th-grade dance will be held on Friday, May 13th! This is an informal dance, casual dress attire is appropriate. Most importantly, to attend, students must be passing 4 of 6 classes with a grade of 70 percent or more.
  • We are planning an end-of-the-year picnic celebration to end your time at the middle school. This celebration will take place sometime during the week of May 23, 2022 - we will grill out and play games down at the football stadium during lunch and Connect class. In order to qualify for this celebration - you can not have discipline referrals from the start of May up to the day of the picnic: this includes lunch detentions, after-school detentions, being sent out of the classroom to behavior intervention, In-school and/or out of school suspensions. We look forward to celebrating your last month of school at the
    middle school.

Incentives: All Students - 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade!

  • Any student who has perfect attendance and no tardiness May 2 - May 13 will be entered into a drawing to win free wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. We will select 15 students who qualify from 6th - 7th and 8th grade to win wings at Buffalo Wild Wings.
  • Students who reached their projected NWEA growth in ELA and MATH from Fall to Spring will be put in a drawing to win a free 3 Mile Project voucher and a Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin performer for free wings. There will be ten (10) students from each grade and for each subject area ELA/Math that will be selected.
  • We are planning an end-of-the-year celebration at the 3 Mile Project on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, during the school day. In order to qualify to attend this day of celebration - you must be passing all your classes with a 70% or better by Connect class on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 and not have any discipline referrals in the month of May: this includes lunch detentions, after school detentions, being sent out of the classroom to behavior intervention, In-school and/or out of school suspensions.

Knight Sports
Before your athlete can begin tryouts/practices, they must have a physical dated after April 15, 2021, for our school sports. Sports Physical Form: A pink slip will be written for the student-athlete by the athletic department to give to the coaches that verify they have a physical on file. There is a participation fee of $70.00 unless your child is on free & reduced lunch.
